She didn’t suffer.

I do give thanks for my mother, and for my father surviving, but it’s hard to do.

  9. Thank you all, every one of you. I’ve been so busy trying to keep things going here that I’m still not getting a grip on what happened. My dad’s holding up fairly well – probably better than I am – and my brother and I are trying to make it as easy on him as possible without trying to treat him like a child.

Unfortunately, I’ve found that my employer is going to be a 10-ton anchor around my legs. It’s been a fight almost every day to get leave issues straightened out, even before she died. I knew there’d be no quarter given or asked when the human resources manager, in the same breath, said she was sorry and asked for a copy of the obituary as proof I took the time off legitimately.

I know intellectually that this isn’t really different from what others go through, but I can also understand the irrationality and insanity of times like this.

    • You have to question the “human” in “human resources” after hearing that one.

  10. Sorry to be so late, FFE. And very sorry for your loss. Though it’s good to hear that she didn’t suffer.

    *hugs*
