Vote, dammit!

For those few who read this blog, you probably already do vote and I thank you. Sorry I haven’t been particularly active here the last few days, but I got an idea for a project and I’m trying to get a decent start on it.

For the rest of you who stumble on this blog, stop reading it and go vote. I don’t care who you vote for. Just vote.

If you’re a U.S. citizen and haven’t registered to vote, shame on you. Tomorrow, go to your local registrar’s office and register to vote so you don’t miss out on the next opportunity to vote in an election.

If you’re registered to vote and don’t vote today, I don’t want to hear any of your whining about how our next president is worthless. You had a chance to vote for him or her, and you didn’t. Therefore, you have no moral right to gripe about it.

If you vote, you have every right in the world to cuss, hiss, spit, cast the evil eye, bitch, moan, cry and repeat. You voted.

Vote. Vote. Vote. (Preferably once, since more than once is a violation of federal and states’ election law. Except, of course, in Louisiana, Florida and perhaps Ohio and Illinois.)

And in a personal aside; Jim Gilmore, I voted for Mark Warner in the sincere hope that you will realize that your attempts to regain any elected office are a sick joke at the expense of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Please, just go home and take up fly-tying or ship-in-a-bottle making or something that will keep you from any more publicly embarassing displays of the kind that got George Allen in the hot water he so richly deserved.

And yes, jim, you can still vote.

  1. I’m Italian, but is not important…
In my country the past 15 September to Milan, was killed to bolted Abdul Salam Guibre, a 19-year-old boy from Burkina Faso that had stolen a package of cookies.
If I support Barack Obama from so distant, is because I believe in the world unity.
Another Italian of name Cristoforo Colombo, a lot of centuries ago does crossed the Pillars of Hercules; challenged the unknown, arrived in an unblemished part of world and stranger until then…
There in he was welcomed from persons with a culture and a story from that learn. What Colombo led to the return from its journey was evolution, change; “two tight hands and united that did from bridge on the Atlantic ocean”. The residents of those lands arrived in Europe, but alas…
They weren’t welcomed with the same diplomacy reserved Colombo. Our part of world that it is considered civilized to the of above of everything and of everything, looked for “to mold them” to its image and similarity, or at the worst; marginalizing them by means of the different color of the skin and to give back the slaves. The same Colombo defended and supported those persons, and ended in chains.
    Then I wonder…
And if Cristoforo Colombo hadn’t undertaken that travel on 3rd August 1492?
But the story it is not done with the “if” and the past changes not. To the opposite one the future we could know it alone making; all together with much tight hands and united.
To who hung to a world without races, to a multicultural society, to an evolution concepted in right manner; it chooses Barack Obama…
Young and charismatic embodiment of that American dream had from Martin Luther King on 28th August 1963 in Lincoln Memorial to Washington D. C., under a sky without clouds.

    John J. Mahyo

    To be continued on…

  2. “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
    H. L. Mencken

This may turn out to be a squeaker like 1968 but HOPE springs eternal…and atleast Pat Paulsen or Ralph Nader won’t be siphoning votes.

  8. No, Gilmore knows not how Lord Cornwallis felt. Cornwallis had a useful career after Yorktowm, straightening out some of the wreckage of Clive.

Gilmore is a stupid, ignorant,pseudo-ideologue whose greatest potential use is as a doorstop or a wheel chock.
