Sunday night funk for white guys

Filed under: funk, music, Was (Not Was) — Frontier Former Editor @ 10:45 pm

In my never-ending subliminal quest to find rhythm, here’s a little vintage bit from Was (Not Was). Give it 1:46 and you’ll see why  . . . .

Frankly, it gives P-Funk a run for their money . . .

  1. Damn. I’m at work again and the connection speed sucks. I love both WNW and Parliament.
    I’ll be back tonight. :0(

  3. Funky ass shit.
But WNW will never be quite as strange as P-Funk.
Nobody is wearing a diaper on their head . . .
    Good call, dude.

  4. Didn’t WasNotWas do that Dinosaur song?
I was a kid when that song was inescapable. I hated it so much that I can’t bring myself to give the band a chance.

    But I ❤ Parliament.

  5. Hey White Boy,

Don was was/is brilliant. I started movin’ and groovin’ the minute I heard the song start. Not easy for a middle aged white woman.

  6. I think I can safely say that if Wild Cherry walked into this discussion that they’d be laughed roundly the hell out of this room.

  7. I always dug “Knocked Down; Made Small”. Great Song.

@ bagel: Clinton and Bootsy were weird, but what’s really weird is making a composition whose sole lyrics are variations of “dad, I’m in jail”, having Frank Sinatra, Jr. guest on a song about Vegas Weddings or engineering a duet between Ozzy Osbourne and Kim Basinger. That goes far beyond wearing a diaper.
